Last season’s conditions were challenging in Northland, New Zealand, bringing above average of rainfall and humidity and Cyclone Gabrielle hitting the region in February significantly reduced volume of fruits.

This year, vintage 2024 started off with wild weather in spring, but the long awaited hot and dry El Nino weather has prevailed in New Zealand.

March marks one of the busiest months of the year at The Landing. Whilst the team starts the harvest of the grapes in early February, it is in March that the bulk of the work is done. Grapes that were harvested previous month are fermenting and need constant attention, and at the same time new grapes are received to process.

Winemaking is in progress for Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Syrah will continue with Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Tempranillo, Montepulciano, and Sangiovese. Everybody is all excited about the 2024 wines from this fabulous season and look forward to their availability, starting with the Pinot Gris and Rosé later this year.
